Chef 187 Inspires Fans with His Latest Single, “Starving”

Chef 187 finally feeds ‘starving’ fans
AFTER nearly a year and a half of leaving his fans staring at empty plates and sniffing imaginary aromas from a seemingly abandoned kitchen, rapper Chef 187 has finally emerged with something to chew on.
The self-proclaimed Numero Uno yesterday served up Shadow Boxing, his first solo release since fans began accusing him of locking up the kitchen and throwing away the key.
For months, the award-winning rapper, whose real name is Kondwani Kaira, endured endless pressure from followers who wondered whether Zambia’s most celebrated lyrical chef had run out of ingredients.
The frustration became so loud that a number of fans openly begged him to stop posting pictures and start posting music.
While Chef occasionally appeared as a guest on other artistes’ songs, many fans dismissed those appearances as mere ‘appetizers‘, insisting they wanted a full meal prepared by the chef himself.
His last major serving was Broke Nolunkumbwa, released in 2023, an album that earned praise from both fans and critics and further cemented his place among Zambia’s rap elite.
Since then, supporters have been surviving on leftovers in the form of collaborations with other artistes.
But yesterday, the kitchen finally showed signs of life.
The release of Shadow Boxing instantly sparked excitement among fans, many of whom had almost given up hope of receiving a fresh serving from the rapper.
However, Chef said fans should not mistake the latest offering for the main course.
According to the rapper, Shadow Boxing is only the beginning, with a bigger project still being prepared behind the scenes.
In a message accompanying the release, Chef assured fans that he remains in the kitchen working on the “main meal.”
“Nchili muchikini (I’m still in the Kitchen) but here is ka appetizer just to get you going”,
